Day 1 Longqing Gorge, Guyaju Caves

After breakfast,your guide and driver will meet you and take you to the first sight today - Longqing Gorge. Seated about 85km away from Beijing city, the Longqing Gorge is like a pearl gorge in Beijing area. It has both the charm of rivers in southern China and the magnificence of mountains in northern China, which make it a perfect place for summer resort. To get to the Longqing Dam, you will take the escalator. Different from any other such kind, the escalator here is embedded inside a 258-meter-long giant dragon lying between hills. Getting off the escalator, you can take the cruise and drift along the river. All the steep cliffs, lush forests, beautiful rocks and clear waters will be presented to your eyes. Every turn around the hill will make a good surprise of scenery. If you like, you can also challenge yourself with other activities like the Bungee Jumping.

Tip: there will be grand Ice Lantern Festival in Longqing Gorge if you visit around the Chinese New Year Festival, which often occurs around February.

After visiting the Longqing Gorge, you will have lunch before heading for the Guya Caves. Hidden in a gorge in the west of Yanqing county, 80km from Beijing, Gutaju Caves is the largest site of an ancient cliff residence community ever found. There are over 100 stone rooms up here and it’s still enigmatic regarding when exactly the excavation was made, who made these caves and why they lived here. People have different theories, and one of which believed that it came from Five Dynasties Period (907-960). Nevertheless, you will learn a lot of history and cultures about the northern dwelling styles here.
