Day 1 Han Yangling Museum, Yuanjiacun Village

09:00: meet your local expert at your hotel lobby and set out to the Han Yangling Museum. After about a 30 minute drive you will arrive at the Han Yangling Mausoleum which is also known as the Tomb of Emperor Jingdi. The museum is the tomb of the fourth emperor of the Western Han Dynasty. It was constructed from 154 BC to 126 BC and covers a total area of around 24 square kilometers. Over 8,000 attendant tombs were built around with the Emperor and Empress' tombs in the middle. 81 burial pits were found around the emperor's mausoleum containing various kinds of burial objects. They consist of cavalry guards of honor, warriors, imperial concubines, court maids and all kinds of chariots, weapons, tools, utensils, food storage and all sorts of other objects.

It is more like an underground kingdom with all terracotta representations of the daily necessities that the emperor might need in another world. To explore this underground museum built right next to the emperor's mausoleum and walk over the glass covered pits of artefacts is like walking back in time, and you will get better understanding of the grandeur of imperial dynastic China.

12:00: After the visit to the Han Yangling Museum, you will head for the Yuanjiacun Village. It takes about an hour to get there.

13:00 - 17:00: In the afternoon, you will visit one of the most magnificent remnants of old times - Yuanjiacun Village. As original and plain as it appears, Yuanjiacun Village is actually very dynamic. We will taste Shaanxi rural culture here. Near the center of the village you will find a large orchard offering all kinds of seasonal fruits. On the main street the mysterious village reveals itself, with Qing-style workshops and small restaurants lining the street as you walk the rustic road and feel the authentic rural culture. The best way to immerse yourself in Yuanjiacun culture is to have a lunch here.






18:00: Arrive back at your hotel.
